This 18K white gold engagement ring dates from the 1930s, an era when many jewelers riffed on this particular type of raised, four-sided setting that never fails to conjure (for me) ancient Aztec architecture. A central .10 carat diamond is perched at the topmost point, and four diamond chips surround it, set closer to the fluid, Art Nouveau-inspired openwork at the base of the setting.
