This 1920s novelty barrel charm is carved from mottled red and black jasper and affixed with a working compass at one end. This piece - meant for a charm bracelet - was made at a time when collecting small mementos as souvenirs of favorite places or markers of important moments and jumbling them together on a bracelet chain was all the rage. Can't prove its provenance, but it definitely has the look of Niagara Falls souvenir.
