This strange and special early 20th century silver locket is fashioned in the shape of an almond with halves of the nut enclosed in its gilt interior. You might ask, why was this made? We've never seen a locket like it before, so the answer is: we don't know. Almonds are vaguely associated with fertility thanks to the Greek myth in which the daughter of a river god became pregnant when an almond fell into her lap, but that is an unlikely explanation for why this weird and wonderful novelty came into being. Hangs from a new 21" sterling silver chain.
