A tiny stamp of an owl and "75" appears on this necklace, which tells us it was made in Paris in the year 1900. What a year for the City of Light: Renoir, Cezanne, Bonnard, Renoir and Rodin were making their most famous work. The Universal Exposition was held in conjunction with the second Olympic games in modern history; kite flying and pigeon racing were among the sports highlighted. Stravinsky and Debussy were composing music; Marie Curie poisoned herself with radium. Art Nouveau was at its height, and this ivy leaf themed necklace was made. The plant symbolized an everlasting bond.
