The Roycroft, founded in 1895 by Elbert Hubbard, was a communal crafts colony located in East Aurora, NY. It was one of several “utopian” societies that formed during the Arts & Crafts Movement (1880-1925). The movement was a response to the perceived soullessness of the Industrial Age as well as a rejection of the poor quality mass produced goods it produced. This silver and jade pendant (formerly a stickpin) is classic Arts & Crafts design and features the Roycroft makers mark.
