Early 19th Century “Bon Sang Ne Peut Mentir” Seal Necklace

Made in the early 19th century, this carnelian intaglio seal features the words "Bon Sang Ne Peut Mentir" - an old French expression meaning that a noble nature cannot utter an untruth, or yield to base conditions. We found this loose seal, originally it would have been housed in a fob and used to form a wax seal on letters. We've and added 14k fittings and chain to make it into a necklace.
