In the northern hemisphere the migration of the swallow is one of the early indications of spring and sign of the fertile period to come. According to lore, swallows were a welcome sight to voyage-weary sailors who believed the little birds prevented ships from getting lost and led them into safe harbor. Formerly a brooch, this Edwardian swallow is modeled in 9k gold with rose cut diamonds along the edges of its wings and tail feathers and garnet cabochons for eyes.
