Fox hunting was banned in the early 21st century in England, and rightly so - it's a pretty barbaric sport. But in the Edwardian era, when this jewel was made, foxhunting was one of the great pastimes of the British upper class. This 18k gold fox in flight probably adorned the top of a stickpin but was converted into a pendant at some point in time.
