Georgian Planetary Ring

$4,000

Sold!

THIS EARLY 19th century eternity band, also known as a "planetary ring", has a colorful array of gemstones. Each one represents a planet or astronomical feature. Riotously colorful, it reflects the widespread enthusiasm for both science and astrology at the time. I can't claim to know every stone's correlation; that's been lost to history. I do know that the moonstone or pearl = the moon, sapphire = Saturn, garnet = North Node, and emerald = Mercury. The white sapphire most likely symbolizes Venus. Heliodor - judging by the name - is meant to represent the Sun.
