This Georgian wax seal fob features a carnelian intaglio of cupid standing beside a heart on a plinth. The god of love is in the act of placing a laurel crown on the heart, he stands beneath the words “Pour La Constance” or “For Constancy.” It was meant to be pressed into hot wax to create a decorative seal for correspondence in the days before gummed envelopes.
