Georgian Sentimental Pansy Brooch

$1,300

Sold!

THE WORD "PANSY" comes from the French pense meaning "to think." In the Victorian era, the five-petaled flower was frequently used in love token jewelry to express the sentiment "think of me." Each petal of this pansy is engraved on the reverse with an initial: A, M, D, H, F & M (father and mother, perhaps.) It's not a mourning jewel, but quite the opposite: a celebration of life.
