An urn on a plinth, hair, and seed pearls are classic symbols we see in mourning jewelry. On this incredible mourning miniature the urn and plinth are actually fashioned from hair and adorned with gold wire and seed pearls. In the background is an orderly stand of cypresses. The dedication at the top reads: Mary Barkely Ob 6 June 1787 Ae 49. This incredible piece is made all the more remarkable by the fact that it comes it its original fitted box.
