I bought this necklace years ago - for myself - from a well-known established antique store in New England. I wore it, but not often. Why? Some jewelry pieces are just like that. It's spectacular and so weird, but it's time to let it go from my personal collection. The coral elements are linked like mesh or a flexible brick wall. It's from around the 1880's, but it's a style ancestor to jewelry from the 1980's. Plus, there are hooks on the reverse that make me think that this was once a convertible jewel. Did it turn into a tiara?
