The white author F. Scott Fitzgerald is credited with coining the term "Jazz Age", but Jazz belonged to, and was created by, Black people. It began in New Orleans and thanks to radio - a new technology in the 20's and 30's - everyone could listen to this music in their own homes. Bessie Smith was the highest-paid African American artist working in music at the time, and the first African American superstar. This ring is based on a piece we once owned and loved. It's a transitional piece, containing elements of Art Deco AND of the earlier Edwardian era. It contains multitudes, just like the rapidly changing culture of the Jazz age.
