Late 19th CenturyGold and Enamel Greek KeyBangle

$3,500

The meander - or Greek key - design was an important motif in Ancient Greek art and architecture, and in Neoclassicism, too. It takes its name from the Meander river in what was Ancient Greece and is now modern day Turkey. The river's serpentine path was considered a symbol of infinity and the eternal flow of life. This outstanding gold bangle is detailed with a black enamel meander over a textured ground.
