“Schwein haben” literally translates from the German as “to have a pig” but actually means “good luck”. Since the Middle Ages, pigs have been associated with good fortune. Some sources suggest that pigs were a symbol of wealth and prosperity as swine farmers always had plenty of food. This hollow lucky pig charm is fashioned in gold with British hallmarks on one side that date it to the year 1900.
