This incredible high karat gold post-Medieval poesy ring reads "Not for riches but for love". Poesy rings (from the old French poesie meaning "the art of poetry") feature inscriptions on the inside of the bands which carry messages of love, devotion, friendship, and loyalty. They were worn by both men and women throughout the Middle Ages through the end of the 18th century. It was believed that the significance of these engraved messages was amplified by wearing them against the skin. The band has a very unusual scalloped edge and is a US 7.5. Sizing not recommended.
