The enduringly popular cluster style originated in the Georgian period. Clusters come in the form of rings, earrings, brooches, you name it. They have their variations, but the bones are always the same: a center stone within a surround of smaller stones. These c. 1890 cluster earrings with back-to-front ear wires feature amethyst pastes set within a halo of seed pearls.
