Cane Corso is an old Italian breed that was used as a guard dog at the time this gold pendant was made, but they trace their ancestry back to Ancient Rome where they were used as catch dogs as well as in warfare. This garnet-eyed noble beast is rendered in profile with a garter - a symbol of loyalty, fidelity, and protection - around its neck.
