Victorian French Jet Bar Brooch
“French jet”- actually very dark black glass - became the go-to material for producing modestly-priced mourning jewelry during the late Victorian era. It was a reasonably affordable alternative to the popular Whitby jet, a form of fossilized wood mined from one small area in England. This brooch features French jet pyramid studs affixed to a black lacquered base.
