“French jet”- actually black, or sometimes very dark red, glass - became the go-to material for producing mourning jewelry during the mid to late Victorian era. It was a reasonably affordable alternative to the popular Whitby jet, a form of fossilized wood mined from one small area in England. These incredible earrings with back-to-front ear wires feature floral themed/punk rock elements of faceted French jet affixed to black-lacquered metal. Made in a versatile day-to-night style, the dramatic torpedo pendants can be removed from the flower tops for a more demure look.
