A most unusual Victorian heart locket fashioned in 18k gold and rock crystal. We love this style of ball locket and almost always buy them when we can find them, but never have we seen one affixed with a monogram let alone a family crest. After diving down the rabbit hole that is Fairbairn's Book of Crests, we found that the Farrier family crest is a winged horseshoe (fun fact: a farrier is a craftsman who shoes horses) and not only that, there was a son born to the Farrier family in 1847 whose name was George Henry! This isn't to say for sure that this locket was commissioned by or for George Henry Farrier, it could have been another GHF, but it seems very possible!
