The story of the Golden Fleece is very, very old: Homer, who lived in the 8th century BC, would have been familiar with it. It's a symbol of the hero's quest (Jason and the Argonauts were involved). This hollow gem-studded charm is very cute and innocent-looking, but it depicts the most important lamb in history. In Spain, the "Order of the Golden Fleece" has been referred to as the most prestigious and historic order of chivalry in the world. It goes back to 1430 when it was established by Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, on the occasion of his wedding to Isabella of Portugal. There have never been more than 50 knights of this order at one time, and 15 are now living. You may refer to them as His/Her Excellency.
