Victorian “Pawb Yn Eu Arfer” Knight Seal Fob

$2,800

Sold!

This bloodstone wax seal fob, made in 1850, is combined with gold to create the bust of a knight in full armor—a clear symbol of duty and resilience. The base bears an intaglio inscription in Welsh: “Pawb yn eu arfer”—translated as “Everyone in their practice,” or “Everyone as per usual.” It was the personal motto of Captain Thomas Herbert, Royal Navy, and likely used to seal his correspondence. His heraldic crest—a wyvern with wings raised, holding a severed hand in its mouth—speaks to legacy, power, and the sharp edges of loyalty. The use of bloodstone, long associated with protection and strength, adds another layer of meaning.
