An exquisite Victorian era brooch with a pearl-studded sickle, three straws of wheat, and roses in bloom rendered in three colors of gold. Wheat, normally a symbol of abundance, and roses, a symbol of beauty, are combined here with the sickle to represent a life cut short. This brooch could be a mourning piece, or possibly a even a Victorian take on memento mori.
