Paragraph intro body copy style. Each one holds a wealth of information like names, dates of birth and death, age. Often hair from the deceased — one last haircut! — was elaborately braided and featured like a precious jewel. It WAS precious, emotionally speaking — hair was sometimes the only physical way to keep your family member / friend close to you after they were gone. Urns, black enamel, weeping willows, seed pearls, and the forget-me-not flower are elements that help us recognize mourning jewelry, and in the 18th / 19th century these symbols were universally known in England and the US.
