Georgian Diamond Pansy Mourning Ring

$6,400

Sold!

A CARAT'S WORTH of gorgeous old mine cut diamonds are arranged in an abstracted pansy pattern, which anyone in the 1830s would have recognized as a message: "think of me". In the unspoken 19th century language of floriography, every flower had meaning. The inside of the band is engraved with the death date of an 80 year old woman, Ann Banks. The ring is unusual in that it's not immediately recognizable as a memorial ring from the outside. Lots of sparkle, no black enamel. It's subtle and soft.
