Pinchbeck is an early form of brass named for its inventor, Christopher Pinchbeck, an 18th century London-based watchmaker. This c. 1800 bracelet is crafted in the so-named metal which was developed in the 1700s as an affordable alternative to gold. The ornate Georgian chain features three styles of link, plain ovals, star-stamped rounds and textured rounds and fastens with a round padlock decorated with a swirling star motif.
