Victorian Carved Carnelian Ouroboros Brooch
A snake with tail in mouth, forming an endless circle, is also known as an ouroboros. It is a symbol of love everlasting, and was one of (if not THE) favorite jewelry motifs of the 19th century. This fantastic mid Victorian brooch features a carved carnelian ouroboros encircling an oval locket.
